Dog friendly cottages are all about taking the *entire* family with you. When we take on a new holiday rental at Love Cottages, understanding whether or not it's dog friendly is one of our top priorities.

But it's not just about whether cottages accept dogs. When we add to our list of pet-friendly cottages we want to make sure that the property will make a good base for people who holiday with their pets.

That means looking beyond the property itself. Yes of course, gardens, dog-proof floors and open fires are a consideration, but so are the less obvious facilities and local amenities.

Are there nearby pubs that accept pets or dog-friendly beaches? For people booking extended breaks, are there any kennels nearby? Somewhere safe to leave the dog for the day whilst you explore the area. (As many dog-owners'll agree, no matter how well you plan, something might crop up - from a day in a water park to a fishing trip = that you'd love to do, if only you hadn't brought the dog!).
