The town’s most famous event is its bogsnorkelling triathlon, which takes place in the Waen Rhydd Bog. Twelve miles on a mountain bike, an eight mile run, and snorkelling two lengths of a 60 yard peat bog trench – spectators are welcome, if you don’t fancy taking part!
Cycling enthusiasts of all kinds will be spoilt for choice with a Llanwrtyd Wells holiday cottage; the National Cycle Museum has its home here, the three day ‘Cider Cycle’ takes a route that allows you to sample the local farmhouse ciders and perries, while the ‘Devils Challenge’ makes the most of the surrounding areas fiendish hills.
