Yorkshire Dales

The beauty of the Yorkshire Dales is that no matter how many times you visit there's always more to discover. Another pathway to walk, another view to capture on camera and another village to visit, and it's a popular destination for family holidays, romantic breaks and those who just want to walk.

The Dales are home to the kind of villages where you can expect a warm greeting and great food, and many host events and festivals throughout the year that make them great fun. Try Harwood Dale, Richmond or Leyburn to kick your holiday off. The scenery’s full of surprises too, as the Dales are home to some stunning limestone formations that give them a unique character, and if you look a little closer you’ll even find a whole network of underground caves to explore.

Back above ground, the family attractions in the region are just as diverse as the landscape itself. The Forbidden Corner is one of Yorkshire’s most popular days out for families, and it’s been a favourite with generations on their holidays in the area. This family theme park is the kind of place where you should expect the unexpected…one moment you’ll come face to face with a talking tree, things may seem to move when you turn your back, and there are all kinds of challenges to find your way out!

For those of you who like to explore in style, the Settle to Carlisle railway winds its merry way right through the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and you’ll chug your way through historic tunnels and over viaducts (including the infamous Ribblehead we might add)…just imagine the views!

If it’s a vantage point for views of the Dales you’re after then head to the very dramatic National Trust site that’s Brimham Rocks. These gigantic formations stand tall above the Dales, and with the views laying before you you’ll feel like you have the world at your feet.
